Atma you'll learn that in different countries of the world, terms and meanings of words
such as Spiritism and Spiritists, Spiritualism and Spiritualists differ. For instance a
Spiritualists unanimously reject the doctrine of Reincarnation, whereas Spiritist make it
almost a fundamental principle in their belief. Although Spiritist belong to a
French School founded by Alan Kardec, I myself am not a member of any school.
Likewise, Spiritualist of America and England as with the "Fox Girls" believe in
spirits, when those of modern religions and even theosophists do not. Religion,
theosophy and philosophy are listed under the page, Exoteric, which is not the same as
Esoteric. Now aren't you confused. And although there are many more topics that can
be listed under Spiritism, and probably there will probably be more in the future, we
decided to begin with the nine as listed above, as so below....
CHANNELING As written by Klimo, "channeling is the communication of information to or through a human being from a source that is said to exist on some other level or dimension or reality that the physical as we know it, and that is not from the normal mind (or self) of the channel". Channeling, thus broadly defined, would include the activities of traditional shamans, the voluntary possession trance found in most world's cultures and Mediumship. Klimo continue " Mediumship. is the art of bringing through Spiritist of the dead specifically to communicate with their relatives. Channeling I define as bringing through some sort of intelligence, the nature undefined, whose purpose is to promote spiritual teachings and philosophical discussion. Typically channeling is done while in a trance. The behavior of channeler is apparently taken over by the alien intelligence, which acts or speaks through him or her. Afterwards, the chenneler usually claims to have no memory of the episode. While some take channeling at face value, accepting that external beings are communicating through human bodies, other suspect that the alien intelligence are nothing more than roles enacted by the channeler. Yet, if the statements of the channeled entities contain information or wisdom that was beyond the capability of the channeler, the case for external influence is strengthened. Some do present coherent philosophies and descriptions of the universe, but none of their details could be verified by scientific means. Up CHRISTOS (Greek) Chistos or Christ, is a word meaning one who is anointed. Anointing was one of the acts performed during the working of the rites of those ancient Mysteries in the countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. Each human being is an incarnation, a embodiment of a ray of his own inner God, the divinity living in the core of the core of each one. The modern Christian of a mystical bent of mind call it the Christ Immanent, the immanent Christos, and they are right as far as they go, but they do not carry the thought far enough. Mystically speaking, the Christos is the deathless individuality, and when the striving personal ego become united permanently with the stainless individuality, the resulting union is the highest ego, the living Christ, a Christ among men, or as the Buddhist would say, a human or manushya-buddha. Up ELEMENTALS In invisible Nature Spirits or Sprites, or trolls, fairies, hobgoblins, elves, brownies, pixies, nixies, leprechauns, kobolds, goblins, fawns, devs, jinn, satyrs often embodies this word. However, it also means beings who are beginning a course of their growth, and who thus are in the elemental states of growth, or expression for all beings evolutionally begin below the minerals. The minerals themselves are the expression of one family or host or hierarchy of elemental beings of a more evolved type. The vegetable kingdom likewise manifest merely one family of elemental beings happening to be in the vegetable phase of their evolution on earth. Likewise is is a regard to the beast. The beast are highly developed elemental beings. Men and women in far distant aeons of the cosmic past were elemental beings, also. We have evolved from that elemental stage into becoming humans, expressing with more or less ease, mostly very feeble, the innate divine powers and facilities locked up in the core of the core of each one of us. The elemental is a being who has entered our universe on the lowest plane or in the lowest world, degree, or step on the rising staircase of life that begins in any universe as it lowest stage through all the realms of being as it rises along the stairway of life, passing through the human stage, becoming superhuman, quasi-divine, a quasi-god, then becoming a god. Every race of men and women on earth have believed in these host of elemental entities, some visible like humans, like beast, like animated plants and others invisible. The medieval mystics taught that these elemental beings were of four general kinds. 1) salamander: those arising in and frequenting the element of fire, 2) sylphs: those arising in and frequenting the element of air. 3)undines: those arising in and frequenting the element of water, 4) gnomes: those arising in and frequenting the element of earth. Up I myself, well, enjoy the
words fairies and pixie and brownie, as I am of the peter-pan syndrome. MESSENGER An individual who comes with a mandate from The Lodge of the Masters of Wisdom and Compassion to do a certain work in the world. Only real genius, indeed something more than merely human genius, only extraordinary spiritual and intellectual capacity, native to the constitution of some lofty human being, could explain the reason for the choice of the messengers. But indeed, this is not saying enough, because in addition to genius and to spiritual and intellectual capacity such as a messenger must posses through initiatory training of throwing at will the intermediate or psychological nature into a state of perfect quiescence or receptivity for the stream of divine-spiritual inspiration flowing forth from the messenger's own inner divinity or essence. It is obvious that such a combination of rare and unusual qualities is not often found in human beings, and when found, such a one is fit for work to be done by such a messenger of the Association of the Great Ones. The Masters of Wisdom and Compassion and Peace send their envoys continuously into the world of human, one after the other, and in consequence these messengers are working in the world among mortals all the time. Happy are those whose hearts recognize the footfalls of those crossing the mountaintops of the Mystic East. The messengers do not always do public work before the world, but frequently work in the silence and unknown to humanity. Up MUSIC OF THE SPHERES Every sphere that runs its course in the abysmal depths of space sings a song as it passes along. Every little atom is attuned to a musical note. It is in constant movement, in constant vibration at speeds which are incomprehensible to the ordinary brain-mind of humans, and each such speed has its own numerical quality, in other words, its own numerical note, and therefore sings that note. This is called The Music of the Spheres, and if men or women had the power of clairauduence, the life surrounding them would be one grand sweet song; their very body would be as it were a symphonic orchestra, singing some magnificent, incomprehensible, musical symphonic composition. The growth of a flower would be like a changing melody running along from day to day, they could hear the grass grow and understand why it grows. They could hear the atoms sing and see their movements and hear the unison of the songs of all individual atoms, and the melodies that any physical body produces. He would know what the stars in their course are constantly singing. Up SILENT WATCHER This is a term used in esoteric philosophy to signify a highly advanced spiritual entity who is, as it were, the summit or supreme chief of a spiritual psychological hierarchy composed of beings beneath him and working under the Silent Watcher's direct inspiration and guidance. the Silent Watchers are relatively numerous, because every hierarchy, large or small, high or low, has its own particular hierarchy or supreme head a Silent Watcher. There are human Silent Watchers, and there is a Silent Watcher for every globe of our planetary chain. There is likewise a Silent Watcher of the solar system of vastly loftier state or stage. etc. Silent Watcher is a graphic phrase and describes with fair accuracy the predominate trait or characteristic of such a spiritual being, one who through evolution having practically gained omniscience or perfect knowledge of all that they can learn in any one sphere of the cosmos, instead of pursuing his evolutionary path forward to still higher realms, remains in order to help the multitudes and host of less progressed entities trailing behind them. There they remain at their self imposed task, waiting and watching and helping and inspiring, and so far as we humans are concerned, in the utter silence of silences of spiritual compassion. For the time being and for all ages the Silent Watchers have renounced all individual evolution for themselves out of pure pity and high compassion for those beneath them. Up SPIRIT GUIDES Are a breed of the Planetary Spirits. Every celestial body in space of whatever kind or type is under the overseeing and reacting influence of a hierarchy of spiritual and quasi-spiritual and astral beings. who in their aggregate are generalized under the name celestial spirits. These celestial spirits exist therefore in various stages or degrees of evolution, but the term Planetary Spirits is usually restricted to the higher class of these when referring to a planet. In every case and whatever the celestial body may be, such a hierarchy of ethereal beings, when the most advanced in evolution of them are considered, in long past cycles of cosmic evolution had evolved through a stage of development corresponding to the humanity of earth. Every Planetary Spirits therefore, whenever existent in those far past aeons of cosmic time was a human or equivalent to what we humans on earth call mortals. The Planetary Spirits of earth, for instance, are intimately linked with the origin and destiny of our present humanity, for not only are they our predecessors along the evolutionary path, but certain classes of them are actually spirit guides and instructors of mankind. We humans, in far distant aeons of the future, on the planetary chain which will be the child or grandchild of the present earth-chain, will be the Planetary Spirits of that future planetary chain. The Planetary Spirits watch over, guide, and lead the hosts of evolving entities inferior to themselves during the various rounds of a planetary chain. Finally, every planetary globe, whether sun or planet or other celestial body has the summit or acme of its spiritual hierarchy a supreme celestial spirit who is the hierarchy of its own hierarchy. It should be not forgotten that the humanity of today forms a component element or stage or degree in the hierarchy of this(our) planetary chain. Up REINCARNATION An anglicized word of Latin derivation meaning reinfleshment, the coming again into a human body of an excarnate human soul. The reparative reimbodiment of the reincarnating human ego in vehicles of human flesh, this being a special case of the general doctrine of reimbodiment. This general doctrine reimbodiment applies not solely to man or woman, but to all centers of consciousness whatsoever, or to all monads whatsoever they may be on the evolutionary ladder of life, and whatsoever may be their particular developmental grade therein. The meaning of the general doctrine is very simple indeed. It is to follow every life consciousness center, in other words, every monad or monadic essence, reincorporates itself repeatedly in various vehicles or bodies, to use the popular word. These bodies may be spiritual, or they may be physical, or they may be of a nature intermediate between these two, i.e., ethereal. This rule of nature, which applies to all mortals without exception, take place in all the different realms of the visible and invisible universe, and on all it different planes, and in all its different worlds. There are eight words used in connection with reimbodiment, which are not synonymous, although some of these eight words have almost the same specific meaning. They are 1) preexistence, 2) rebirth, 3) reimbodiment, 4) palingenesis, 5) metensomatosis, 6) metempsychosis, 7) transmigration, and of course, 8) reincarnation. The meaning of the word reincarnation differs from rebirth in this, that the latter word simply means rebirth in human bodies of flesh on this earth, while the former term also contains the implication of possible incarnation in flesh by entities which have finished their earthly pilgrimage or evolution, but who can and sometimes do return to this earth in order to incarnate for the purpose of aiding their less evolved brothers and sisters. Up TRANSMIGRATION This word is grossly misunderstood in the modern world as also is the doctrine comprised under the Old Greek word metempsychosis, both being modernly supposed to mean, through the common misunderstanding of ancient literature, that the human soul at some time after death migrates into the beast realm and is reborn on earth in a beast body. The real meaning of this statement in ancient literature refers to the destiny of what theosophists call the life-atoms, but it has absolutely no reference to the destiny of the human soul, as an entity. Theosophy accepts all aspects of the ancient teachings, but explains and interprets them. Our doctrine in this respect unless indeed, we are treating of the case of a "lost soul" is "once a human, always a human". The human soul can no more migrate over and incarnate in a beast body than can the psychical apparatus of a beast incarnate in human flesh. Why? Because in the former case the beast vehicle offers to the human soul no opening at all for the expression of the spiritual and intellectual and psychical powers and faculties and tendencies which make a human, human. Nor can the soul of the beast enter into a human body, because the impassable gulf of a psychical and intellect nature, which separates the two kingdoms, prevents any such passage from the one up to another so much its superior in all respects. Transmigration, however, has a specific meaning when the word is applied to the human soul; the living entity migrates or passes over from one condition to another or state or plane, as the case may be, whether these latter be in the invisible realms of nature or in visible realms. and whether the state or condition or of plane a migrating of the living entity from one to the other, but always in conditions or estates or habitude appropriate and pertaining to its human dignity.
