Defined, is the leaving of the body in an astral form which is produced in the pineal gland located in the brain.. The astral form is connected to the body by an thin cord, but when the body dies, the astral shell is the first vehicle in which the spirit or soul uses to travel in., and reside in until their spirit guide helps the spirit in the astral shell to evolve or ascends to the next plane of being. Often the soul leaves the astral shell, and the astral shell remains for sometime on the earth plane with its mortal experiences. Some ghost sightings are actually the viewing of an astral shell, not a spirit in light form. Have you ever woke up suddenly from sleep in a jolt?? And felt a bit dizzy or strange? Probably you have. The experience is a human protective device to actually prevent an astral project while you're sleeping. Don't ask me why, but an out-of-the-body-experience (OBE) from a sleep state, in a deep theta state is a seemingly natural process in MY spiritual evolution and possibly yours too. One way of knowing if you have have an OBE while asleep is if in a dream, the dream consist of you flying. The OBE has been a rare experience, something only happening to to mystics or powerful psychics. Perhaps the first written experiences of the OBE was from Hugh Callaway, a British occultist who began publishing accounts of his many OBEs in a series of articles he presented to the Occult Review, beginning in 1923. He wrote not only of his spontaneous OBEs, but also wrote how he trained himself to induce them, and about the fourth dimensional worlds and encounters with nonhuman creatures and mystical masters. It must have seemed back then that only a gifted occultist could have an OBE. But in the 1930 this began to change when Sylvian Muldoon living in a small town in Wisconsin began writing his own accounts of his own astral project experiences. He advised his readers how to induce their own OBEs, themselves. To prove that OBE was a human potential and not a psychic gift he began collecting the accounts from normal everyday people who had experienced one, or maybe two OBEs during the course of their life. These account were very different from those of Callaway strange encounters. They simply told how percipients left their bodies momentarily under a variety of conditions, floated about and maybe even visited a friend and then returned to their body, no harm done. So now it seems that astral project is as common as many other gander variety psychic experiences, such as telepathy, precognitive dreams, and other forms of ESP phenomena. But just how common OBEs seem to occur came to light only when a hand of researches began polling the general public about the experience. They were in for a shock. Out of 155 Duke University Students, 27 percent of them had undergone at least one such incident sometime during their lives. Celia Green conducted a similar survey at Southampton University in England. Out of 115 polled student, 19 percent of them have had a OBE experience. And then were Oxford students were surveyed, out of 380 student 34 percent of them began talking about their own astral projection experiences. This was still early enough in the cycle, before astral projection was even understood or even a popular subject in the knowledge base of paranormal experiences. There were many other polls, and if all were summed up it shows that about 1 out of 5 people will undergo a spontaneous OBE in their lifetime. These statistic contain both implications and limitations. They certainly indicate that the OBE experience is not a rare occult experience. It seems to be common, can occur under a variety of conditions, and does to be as exotic as many of the older occult writers made it appear. One the other hand, the data does not prove that anyone can have an OBE, or that the ability to leave the body can be nurtured or learned. However some new evidence collected by researches in the United States has done much to show that the OBE probably is a human potential, not a talent or hereditary gift. This view comes from two totally different lines of evidence. The first is an outgrowth of a lengthy and detailed research project undertaken by a team of psychiatrist and psychologist in Kansas. Glen Gabbard of the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, Dr. Steward Twenlow of the Topeka V.A medical Center, and DR. Fowler Jones of the University of Kansas medical Center became interested in the OBE in the late 1970s, and began studying the reporters themselves and presented their first batch of findings at the annual convention of the American Psychiatric Association in May of 1980 in San Francisco. The three reported on several different phases of the research, including how they attempted to map out of the characteristics of the OBE, how that tried to determine if a person capable of experiencing this phenomenon is psychologically different from most other people, and weather the OBE can be explained psyhiatrically. They received a variety of answers to these questions, but the data in general indicate that the OBE is a widespread human potential that anyone is capable of experiencing. One way to induce an OBE is through Dynamic Concentration, that is to dynamize the will, to hyperdynamize it, in fact, so that it is overcharged and capable of bursting out, like air from a bursting balloon. There are obvious methods of doing this. One of the simplest is to repeat to oneself many time before dropping off to sleep, I HAVE WILL - I HAVE ENERGY. This must be kept up until sleep actual supervenes, and memory is lost. Then one may think of the next day's work clearly, in detail, and make up one's mind not to deviate therefore. This will give the subconscious will a force that nothing else can equal. This type of focus, unidirectional willing is really not as arcane as it might sound. It is very similar to the Christian concept of dynamic prayer, that through reverent desire and faith, changes in the world will occur through the intermediate of God. These instruction are actually training exercises at which the OBE student should become adept before the actual attempt to astral project is made. After one has successfully learned the techniques of dynamic willing, the second phase of the program, the process of loosening the double from the physical body, may begin. Here is an example of how it is done. Sit down in a chair or lie down in bed and go over your entire body in thought. Focus on each inch of the body with your might and will that the double (the astral body) detach at each point. Try to FEEL, not merely imagine, the human double detaching. After completing this procedure, focus all your mental energy on the solar plexus chakra or the brow/crown chakra and will that your mind and double release from the body. You cannot just want this to happen, you must exercise an almost exhausting effort of will. Even if you don't have a OBE at this time, it might be a good idea to imagine that you have actually left the body. Imagine your travelling about your room. Imagine that you are on the above yourself, look down and see yourself lying there. Whatever happens, these experiences are helpful in your evolution to live beyond the lower self. climbing the ladder to ATMA. Please remember to go to out POWWOW and write about the experience..... Up The ultimatum of all human decrees and wisdom is to gratify the passion of the flesh at the expense of the spirit. The prophets and those who have stood nearest the fountain of universal knowledge used dreams with more frequency than any other mode of divination. Profane, as well as sacred history is threaded with incidents of dream prophecy. Ancient history relates that Gennadius was convicted of the immortality of his soul by conversing with an apparition in his dreams. We may see without eyes and hear without ears, not by unnatural excitement of our sense of vision or of hearing for these accounts prove the contrary, but by some interior sense, psychic and mental. The soul, by its interior vision, may see not only what is passing at a great distance, but it may also know in advance what is to happen in the future. The future exist potentially, determined by cause which bring to pass successive events. Positive observation proves the existence of a psychic world, as real as the world knows to our physical senses. Does light really exist? Does heat really exist? Does sound really exist?. No. They are only manifestations produced by movement. What we call light is a sensation produced upon our optic nerve by its vibration of ether, comprising between 400 and 750 trillion per second, undulations that are themselves very obscure. What we call heat is a sensation produced by vibration between 350 to 600 trillion. What we call sound is a sensation produced upon our auditory nerve by silent vibrations of the air, themselves comprising between 32,00 and 36,00 a second. Mankind, womankind, cannot contradict the laws of nature. But, are all the laws of nature, yet, understood? Those who live active lives exclude spiritual thought and fill their minds with the fascination of worldly affairs, pleasure and business, and dream with less frequency than those who regard object matters with lighter concerns. Now, having this above included, it can be said that there are three kinds of DREAMS. 1) Subjective. 2) Physical. 3) Spiritual. They relate to the past, present and future. Subjective possess an element of warning and prophecy, though the true meaning is hidden in symbols or allegory. They are due to contingent mental picture of the past falling upon the conscious mind of the dreamer. Physical dreams are more or less unimportant. They are usually superinduced by the anxious waking mind, and when this is so they posses no prophetic significance's. Spiritual dreams are brought about by the higher self penetrating the soul realm, and reflecting upon the waking mind approaching events. When we put our animal mind and soul in harmony with our higher self we reach Atma. It is through the lower self we fall into the whirlpool of matter. I myself could write quite and interesting and entertaining book if I wrote about all my dreams. But what I find the most interesting are LUCID DREAMS. The term was first coined by Van Eeden in 1913. Most dreams are nonlucid, the question of whether or not the experience is a dream never arises. Prelucid dreams are those in which the dreamer wonders whether or not they are dreaming. Prelucidity can lead into more fully lucid dreams, if the question is answered, yes. There are companies who produce devices that monitor what is called rapid eye movement, which is a sign that one may be lucid dreaming. When this is detected, flashing red lights are switched on that penetrate the eyelids, and hence if the dreamer's mind sees red, the dreamer is suppose to know they are lucid dreaming. My own trick is, in moments of time, I attempt to alter the course of what I am doing with something totally silly. If I am walking down the street, and I say, let a clown drop from the clouds, and it does, then I know I am lucid, then the fun begins. Imagine the experience one could have with lucid dreams. And to not go into any details, I have fulfilled most of my desires of experiences within lucid dreams. This is akin to what other dimensions will produce for our light when we pass from the earth plane to a higher one. Like in one subplane we posse the skills to live in any environment as we please. To create out of nothing, anything, and to mold it to our will. Say one who has a fancy for lacy and silky and pretty garments, and their heart melts into rushes of pranic bliss when one of these garments surrounds the soft mortal body of flesh, then on the plane of pure reason, this spark of the ultimate creator may wish to live in a world where the walls and clouds and floors are as cute and delightful as the dress she is wearing. Well, needless to say, a lucid dream is very much like this dimension. Maybe it really is. The opposite of lucid dreaming may be insanity to those who don't posses the wisdom of awareness to what is occurring. This happens to, lets say, a writer who has spend endless sleepless hours at the keyboard, without the ability to go to sleep.. Or a trucker rolling down the highway on 18 wheels trying to get to LA by Friday, and has to keep driving and stays awake hour after hour. This of course in illegal, but sleep deprivation can cause the mind to go to sleep, while one is still awake. The mind is dreaming, but the consciousness doesn't know that. What a mess of logic!!! Anything imaginable (by someone with a wild imagination or creative subconscious) may manifest itself in the dream, but to the consciousness and body in a wake state, what is created in a dream is experienced as REAL... Too much of this will drive any man or woman straight into a straight jacket and a padded cell. This has actually happened to me, well, not the trip to the padded cell, but seeing things that (I guess) were not really there. My lover was with me during some of these experiences. Loud arguments occurred because I was convinced something was happening, when it really wasn't. As an example, one morning a group of people started to appear out of the foyer closet and proceeded to have a party in the front room of our house. I was out there yelling at them to get out. They were pointing devices at the hanging lamp and sparks of laser beams shot out from the light to make more people appear from the closet. When I looked in a full length mirror in our livingroom, there were always a large number of people sitting around a huge table watching me, like I was on a stage. I was convinced that my own inner light was now visible on another dimension like I was a ghost to them and there were researchers studying me, and ghost buster trying to rid me of there environment. There were people in the attic who would spy on me and enter and exit through trap doors in the ceiling and even in the floors. There were odd shapes in the carpets that were the doors and I once saw one of them sewing the carpet door up with an odd device and glue. And by shining a black light on the carpet door I could see where the glue was laid. I believed one time I saw a man in the crawl space between the bathrooms, (I later went into the attic and did find a big space between the bathrooms) he had a gun of some sort, that later I recognized as one of those air guns used by the military to shoot drugs into the arms, instead of using needles. The next morning I woke with an odd red mark on my leg and it was sore. I saw people outside a window lifting each other up on to the roof. I saw a man who was covered in paint or stucco type material to blend himself into the outside walls of our house. The Arab neighbors next door became terrorist to me. Once I saw them shinning a laser beam out the window, then a few days later I saw a laser beam shoot down our upstairs hallway. I was convinced they could see from their smoky stain glass window through our smoky stain glass window that were directly across from each other. And as beautiful and the glass pattern was, I put thick drapes over them. I thought they were trying to drive me crazy with projectors. One time I witnessed a line of baby dinosaurs marching down the hallway toward me. They were led by a frog who held a baton and danced like a leader of a parade. I saw flying babies outside my window, and dogs and cats of animal spirits who lived in the house before me. I could go on and on and on with these illusions and tricks for light seemingly created in the minds eyes and the brain perceives the images as input from our two eyes, but I better stop here. The point again, that I'm attempting to seed in your mind is.... ATMA. I'm just going about it in an unconventional manner. Please forgive me.... Up Thank Jesus, never had one myself, but it is included here on this page (that will surely grow) as it is an interesting phenomenon. It is said that people who have been on the brink of death and revived, tell tales of unusual experiences. The earliest description of a near death experience (NDE), was told by Plato in The Republic. he recounts how a solider name Er was taken for dead and placed on a funeral pyre. Er suddenly came back to life and told a tale of leaving his body and a journey to other worldly places of judgement. This phenomenon has been noted throughout history of the West. In the 6th century, Pope Gregory the Great published a collection of strange experiences including three NDEs. Another such collection, complied by Caesarius of Heisterbach in the 13th century also contained NDEs. Serious interest began to return in the 19th century. In 1892 Heim published an article entitled " The experience of Dying from Falls." Heim had interviewed 30 mountain climbers who had fallen from cliffs and nearly died. He reported a surprising finding. The experience of approaching death and been peaceful and happy. They had, so to speak, fallen into heaven. Several studied have confirmed that certain elements occur commonly in NDEs. These elements are sometimes described as stages which is misleading as they do not happen in every NDE and do not always occur in the same order. The most common element, recalled by a majority of informants is a feeling of calmness and joy. Another experience noted by at least half, was an OBE. Dying people can suddenly observe their physical body from an external vantage point and may see or hear events, such as surgical team laboring over the patient's life, that was later confirmed. Some writers have pointed to this occurrence as evidence that the center of awareness - a soul, or self, had actually detached itself from the unconscious body. Numerous studies have shown, however that comatose or anaesthetized people can store and later retrieve some information presented to them verbally, despite their unconscious state. Researchers have collected NDE accounts from India and have reported systematic differences from Western NDEs. The typical India NDE involves the person being escorted to another world by spirit messengers, confronted by a man with a book (often said to be Yama, the Lord of the Dea) who discovers that an error has been made by bringing them there and so sends them back to life by the messenger or by deceased relatives. Viewing one's own body from without is extremely rare in Indian NDEs and the panoramic life review is unknown. These comparative findings suggest that the experience itself, the remembering of it and/or the reporting of it is being crafted by the forces of personal expectations and need. The lack of uniformity among NDEs poses problems for those who wish to take the NDE literally as a glimpse of the afterlife. Why would otherworld change as a function of the informants century or society? Up
Stigmata provides a dramatic demonstration of the intimate relationship between the mind and the body. Stigmata are eruptions on the skin that symbolizes a belief held by stigmatic. During the past eight centuries, over 300 cases have been reported. In most accounts, stigmatic have been devout Roman Catholics, and the marks have represented the wounds received by Christ, whips marks on the back from flogging, nail wounds on the hands and feet, pricks on the head from the crown of thorns and the spear wound in the side. Occasional reports have been made by Moslems displaying stigmata symbolizing the battle wounds of Mohammed. The marks can take a variety of forms as reddening of the skin, the appearance of blisters, and the oozing of blood or clear serum from apparently unbroken skin. In the new Testament letters to the Galatians, Paul wrote; From henceforth let to man trouble me; for I hear in my body the marks of the lord Jesus. Believers in the Divine origin of stigmata points to this passage a Biblical justification for their faith. .. It is unlikely that Paul actually had stigmata in the modern sense of the term; he may have been referring to injuries received as a result of persecution. The only other hint of possible stigmata phenomena prior to the 1200s is found in the Book of Kells, a ninth century Irish illuminated manuscript in which St. Matthew is depicted with red marks like nail wounds in h is feet. Although the prototypical stigmata saint was a man, there have been about seven female stigmatics for every one male. In the case of Anne Emmerich, a Y-shape cross appeared on her breast which resembled the cross she had contemplated as a child and "lash marks." on the shoulder of ST Gemma Galgani corresponded to those on a favorite crucifix. The most dramatic evidence that stigmata can occur without external injury to the skin was reported by Lechler in 1933. He produced and photographed the swelling of blood from the feet, hands, forehead and eyelids of a hypnotic subject who was under continuous observation. No self-mutilatory behavior was detected. Although further confirmation of this bizarre phenomenon would be desirable, our current knowledge suggest the likelihood that strongly held beliefs can drastically affect the flesh. Up
In Greek mystikos refers to something that is secret or hidden. The English adjective "mystical," has been used to describe anything that is mystifying, confusing or occult. Since the 17th century "mysticism" has referred to a type of unusual experience that, while difficult to understand for those who have not had it, is not necessarily mystifying or occult. A mystical experience is characterized by the feeling that, despite the apparent diversity in the world, everything forms a unity. This feeling can be vague and fleeting, or, in a fully developed mystical experience, it can eliminate all other mental activity and last for hours. Stace has identified some common characteristics if the mystical experience. The unity of all misleading, Rather, it is sensed as certain knowledge, compared to which the apparent separation of objects in the world seems illusory. While some mystics have described aspects of their experience as painful or burning, overall the mystical experience is described in overwhelmingly positive terms. For many who have had it, the apprehension of an underlying unity is the most meaningful moment in their lives. Another common characteristic is the inability to describe the experience in words. Ordinary language has developed in order to describe the world of distinct objects, the unity glimpsed by the mystics cannot be captured using words that highlight the separateness of things. Thus, many mystics have employed language in a paradoxical manner to hint that the essence of their experience transcends the distinctions of language, "the fullness of the void," the brilliant darkness, 'dying into life." Two subtypes of mystical experience can be distinguished introvertive and extravertive. The introvertive mystical experience features a sense of be ing beyond space and time, and the dissolution of all mental contents into the feeling of unity. In the extravertive subtype the world of separate things does not disappear; rather, the unity is sensed within the diversity of ordinary appearances. Often there is a feeling that everything, even inanimate things like rocks and trees possesses an inner life. I know this to be true (I've had many mystical experiences) as due to my quest of Atma and the mediation of Kundalina upward from chakra to chakra, I equate my mystical experiences to levels of the life forces charging my chakras. Following are brief examples of my two subtypes. Extravertive - occurred one morning after a wonderful night of dancing (and consorting with the guys) with my sister and three girlfriends who lived with me . The next morning as two men friends who one lived in the house, the other was a sleep over, we all sat in the livingroom taking about the fun we had the night before, us girls still in our jammies. I somehow seemed to be seated in the middle of the gang, and somewhat elevated. One girl and one guy sat to the left of me at my feet, two girls sat to the right of me at my feet, and one guy sat close to me on the sofa. The sky was bright and blue, and the flowers were very colorful and pretty. They seemed to speak to me, as did the grass and all the bushes. I heard the music of the spheres for the first time, and as I tried to describe my feelings, my speech became very profound. The girls began hugging my legs, one I recalled kissed my feet. The words flowed from my lips as I attempted to described the beauty I witness out the livingroom window, which was very large and allowed for an almost panoramic view of two house across the street that had many different types of flowers. I felt odd, but I felt one with nature as I continued to speak about how I saw these flowers and trees and the greenness of the grass. Everything around was so beautiful. The guys, the girls, the nighties, the carpet. the drapes, the dawn light and the shadows on the lawn. This experience lasted about 1/2 hour and the other girls seemed to be lifted in spirit, also, we all began to cry, and cry, and hug, and kiss and cry. They were kisses of a deep mystical love we all had for each other at that moment. I don't recall I ever kissed another girl before, but it felt so warm and sweet to feel the soft lips of another girl on my lips. We were all young, in our twenties, we were all rather cute, but we all felt like goddesses, and we continued to cry for an hour without any known reason. It was so refreshing that my heart chakra and aura could lift and charge the auras and chakras of those around me. That day we packed a picnic lunch and in two cars drove to Big Sur for a fun-filled, and profound day within nature at the beach.... Several times at the beach, we would hug and slightly again begin to cry. Introvertive - occurred not more than a year ago in 2004. For several days prior this experience I would begin to cry when the news reported yet another death of an American in Iraq. I was alone, my lover David was asleep upstairs. I was working on a software application late in the evening, and heard the news of death, I began to cry. I got up from my chair and began to dance in front of the mirror. Why I began to dance I do not know, but I was taken into the mirror to a land not of this world, almost like Alice Through The Looking Glass. This world was dark and sad and as a vortex of despair of thoughtforms whirled around me, I heard the voices of ALL. This voice I later assumed is what others might of heard and thought it to be God. I do not claim to have spoken to any ultimate creator, but to Mother Earth's thoughtforms themselves. My heart chakra was so full, I cried and bawled so load, David came down and found me standing in front of the mirror in a trance. This voice was the combination of the mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers and aunts and uncles and friends of all those who lost their lives in Iraq. Not just Americans but also those of Iraq voices, all spoke as one along with Mother earth who said I must absorb this despair as Mother Earth cannot absorb it all herself. I became a beacon of light that all the crying could cry to, and I felt I was about to have a heart attack. David told me later that I clutched my heart and my breathing was very deep and fast and I became white with clammy skin. So I cried for almost two hours, after an hour I collapsed to the floor into a fetal position, my dress and the carpet around me was wet from sweat and tears. I did not see where the voice came from, but it continued to instruct me on how to absorb the pain of all those who were crying.. Close to the end of this experience I ask to be shown the future. Unfortunately, my stupidity did me in, as what I was shown was also as terrible of the senseless death of the young and innocent old. I saw that the lion, the giraffe, the hippo, the rhino, the monkey, the tiger, the goat, the elephant, the lamb were all dead. It was revealed to me that all these animals, and more, would no longer exist in the wild in less than 100 years. How the destruction of these wonderful creatures was to occurred was not revealed... later in days to come, I had the awful task of joining the heads of the beheaded back on their bodies. All this has passed now, and insanity did not overtake me. I thank my guide Ebeth for continuing to give me the powers to survive these mystical episodes. I do not wish any of this you... may peace and love be forever in you heart.... Up
Or PK is the ability of a person to influence the environment without using any of the known conventional means such as muscular action. Th term is compounded of the Greek roots psyche (mind or soul) and kinesis (movement). Thus, it implies that the mind is acting directly on the external world; hence the popular phrase for PK is "mind over matter." Along with Extrasensory Perception, PK is one of the main alleged phenomena studied by parapsychologists. PK has been as an explanation for many unusual experiences that are traditionally viewed as either miracles or the action of spirits. In his collection of strange phenomena associated with Catholic saints. Thurston reported many incidents in which the holy water of the Mass allegedly rose from the altar and deposited itself from the mouth of the communicant. The devout may consider such an event to be a divine act, but some have argued that it would more likely be caused by PK on the part of the priest or the communicant. Similarly, stories of Levitation, Poltergeists, and the effect of Ritual Magic, and the seance room occurrences known as physical Mediumship, are ordinarily attributed to disembodied beings, but could equally well be explained by PK influences from living humans. Most theorists believe that PK likely operates to fulfill the desires of the PK source. But we maybe conscious of everything we desire, and it has been suggested that condenses such as surprise encounters with old friends ion the street might be caused by the guiding influences of "unconscious PK." Philosophers who believe that the mind and the body are distinct entities (called dualism) have suggested that PK is the link between mind and brain, when the mind wills the lifting of the left arm, for instance, PK manipulates the appropriate cortical neurons to bring about this behavior. Others have speculated that PK is unaffected by the distance between the source and the target and may even transcend the barrier of time, the possibility of retro-PK," or psycholkinetic influence upon past events., has been discussed in the parapsychological literature. Whether or not "mind over matter" is possible, belief in it is not uncommon. A 1990 Gallop poll estimated that 17% of Americans believe they have experienced it. L.E. Rhine collected almost 200 reports of spontaneous PK occurrences. Most of the PK events her collection involved two people who was undergoing a crisis of some sort at the moment of the event. In the typical case, the crisis was death. At the time of someone's demise, a faraway friend or relative notices a mysterious occurrence, as vase tumbles from a secure place on a shelf, a watch or clock suddenly stops, a mirror or window breaks unaccountably. The witness may state that they did not even know of the crisis at the time. In these circumstances many witness assume that the PK influences originated from the person undergoing the crisis, and that the PK effect was an attempt to send a message to them. As evidence for the reality of direct mental influences on the environment, case reports and surveys are not conclusive, Windows break and clocks stop all the time, only occasionally does such an event coincide with a personal crisis, leading a witness to believe in a link between the event and the crisis. But a certain number of such coincidence would be expected by chance, even if PK did not exist, and it is impossible to say whether particular PK experience was a chance matching of crisis and event, or whether some paranormal connection was involved. Furthermore, most cases reports rely on the memories are not always reliable accounts of what really happened. A conclusive demo of PK would require an effect that was so dramatic and well documented that it could not be explained as a coincidence, misperception, or a fraud, for instance a levitation of a large object in public, witness by many, under conditions precluding fraud, recording by video and repeatable on demand. No one has ever achieved such a feat. An alternative approach to providing evidence for the existence of PK is to try to produce it in the controlled condition of a research laboratory. Again, no large scale PK of the sort described above has ever been documented in conditions that ruled out other explanations. Since 1934, however, experiments have been conducted which have have demonstrated the reality of PK at least to some researcher's satisfaction. In that year parapsycholologist J.B. Rhine met a gambler who claimed to be able to influence the fall of dice by will power alone. Although the gambler's attempts to demo his abilities were convincing, the incident suggested to Rhine that extremely small PK effects might be detectable by studying tasks like dice throwing. Hey, if you have these powers I'll meet you in Las Vegas. Really, some of my lost and begotten sisters have told me stories of these sort of experiences. My only experience an object moving without any sort of human intervention was in 1983 In Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. This was during a period when I was into Wicca and contacting my spirit guide. You know, to contact ones spirit guide you have to be in the same place, doing the same practices, at the same time, day after day after day. Missing more than one day can really piss off your guide and contact can never again be made. Anyhow, the folks I lived with had me preoccupied during the time I was suppose to meet with my guide, and I had trouble trying excuse myself. At the precise time of 11:00 PM, a seven foot triangular (sat in the corner) book case of theirs. fell over, like someone had squeezed themselves in-between the wall and the bookcase that was full of knickknacks, and pushed it over. Of course, it was quite a mess and luckily it was passed the bedtime of the kids, if not, several children would have been hurt badly or possibly killed, as the shelf structure was very heavy. There was no explanation of how the case could have fallen over. The parents were petrified. I was then able to excuse myself, and hurried to my room upstairs to commune with my guide. Was it my guide who performed this seemingly impossible feat. Or somehow, was it I. In any case (pun there) it would have taken any human quite a bit of forces and energy to push over this bookshelf. To this day, it still remains a great mystery in my life, as no mortal or immortal or fairy has ever accepted responsibility. Up
Spontaneous Human Combustion (SHC)- ouch!
Stories of people being incinerated by flames from within date back over 200 years. Folklore beliefs of this sort are undoubtedly much older. One of the earliest cases on record occurred in Rheims, France in 1725. The charred remains of a woman were found on her kitchen floor. Her husband was initially charged with murder, but the courts concluded that she had been a victim of SHC. Several other accounts of SHC burning can be found in the legal and medical literature of the 18th and 19th centuries. In the mid 1800's the debate concerning the reality of the phenomenon was fanned by the publication of Charles Dickens, novel Bleek House, in which a character, Mr. Krook meets his death by spontaneous fire. Scientists of the day criticized Dickens for fostering superstition. Despite orthodox skepticism, reports of "human fireballs" have continued throughout accounts, bystanders were said to have witnessed the beginning of the immolation; but in th best known instances, the victims were alone when they were set ablaze, and their remains were discovered sometime later. In a number of cases, the victims were known to be heavy drinkers, the elderly also appear to be a special risk for the fiery fate. It was frequently reported that the bodies of victims had obviously been subjected to very high temperatures, while nearby objects showed little or no heat damage. A variety of theories have been advanced to explain the mysterious burning death. Some have suggested that the key to the puzzle was high alcohol levels in the body, perhaps they had become so perfuse with the flammable liquid that the friction of ordinary movements set them alight. But no one could drink enough alcohol to alter the combustion properties of human tissue. Most esoteric writers such as Harrison have wondered if the flames are produced by some sort of pyschokesis. Noting that some poltergeist occurrences involve mysterious outbreaks of fire, and that often an emotionally disturbed or frustrated individual is at the hub of poltergeist events.. Harrison concluded that sometimes strong emotions can psychically manifest a fire. In the case of SHC the common casual emotion seems to be loneness, despair and suicidal urges. It is noteworthy that one of the Six Yogas of Naropa, a classic Tibetan meditation practice is the generation of dumo or :inner fire" students are warned that improper technique can lead to spontaneous combustion. Some have surveyed 30 reports of SHC and found that the amount of bodily destruction correlated positively with the amount of available fuel sources, such as wooden flooring and chair stuffing. So SHC had made it to this paranormal page as intriguing, most researches or shall we call them debunkers (Hi Randi) seem to think these are simply cases of old fat (human fat burns at high temperatures) who drank to much and accidentally caught themselves on fire with a burring cigarette. I say bonkers because they only researched the case that would fit their hypothesis. Like a theory goes, one tries to...oh well you grasp the point. They did not investigate the cases in which the person caught fire, who didn't drink, who didn't smoke, and who wasn't fat. There are such cases, such as one English girl, right in front of another girl caught fire as she walked to school. No, she wasn't set on fire by a gang of boys, she didn't drink or she didn't smoke. Explain that Randi, you money grubbing idiot!!!! Up
